What is RSS?

RSS makes it easy to keep track of the latest content and news updates from your favourite sites, without exposing your email address to the risk of spam.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It works by allowing anyone who publishes web content, such as GBST, to create a 'webfeed' of their news, which is then delivered to a feed reader (also called a news aggregator). There are links to free feed readers below.

The advantage of RSS over more traditional methods of delivering new content, such as mailing lists, is that your email address is never submitted so you're not exposed to possible spam. A webfeed can also be accessed wherever you have an Internet connection and a feed reader installed.

To begin receiving GBST news updates via RSS please follow the instructions below.

Step One - Choose and install a feed reader

Listed below are some of the more popular Windows feed readers:*

Internet Explorer extension - Pluck

Mozilla FireFox extension - Sage

Stand-alone reader - Active Web Reader

* GBST has no association with these applications, nor have they been tested by GBST, nor are they endorsed by GBST. They have been listed due to their general popularity and must be used at your own risk.

Step Two - Syndicating a web feed

Once you have a feed reader installed you will need to provide it with the address of the RSS feeds you wish to view. Each feed reader will have it's own way of doing this and you should refer to the program manual of your chosen reader, however it's usually a very simple process. Both Pluck and Active Web Reader listed above will in fact walk you through the process of adding a new RSS feed.

The address of the GBST RSS feed to syndicate is as follows:

http://www.gbst.com/gbstnews.xml
(Clicking on this link will not automatically add it to your feed reader, it must be added manually. Please see above.)

Step Three - Receiving news updates

When GBST has new content to deliver, such as news articles or bulletins, the GBST RSS feed will be updated. Your feed reader may automatically notify you that the update is available, and if not simply check your feed reader from time to time.
