Since our founding in 1984, GBST has grown to become the market-leader in Australia and New Zealand and expanded around the world through a number of growth acquisitions and by investing both resources and funds in our products.

Today, GBST is a global company with a strong presence in Australia and New Zealand as well as Asia and the United Kingdom – and we continue to grow our reach across the broader Asian marketplace as well as into North America. Publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:GBT), GBST employs more than 550 people in offices across Australia, United Kingdom, North America and Asia.

GBST founded as Star Systems in Australia and New Zealand

1986

Securities Broking System launched in Australia

1990

Securities Broking System introduced to New Zealand

1993

GBST Shares™ is launched

1997

The company assists entry of Australia’s first correspondent clearer into the market using GBST Shares™

1998

GBST Margin Lending is launched

2000

Leading Australian retail bank adopts GBST’s Cash Management Interface to automate settlement of CMT accounts with stock brokers

ASX launches its World Link Service and selects Shares™ Global to facilitate offshore trading between markets

2001

Shares™ Global is selected by ITG to support its new venture in the Hong Kong market

2005

GBST is listed on ASX – Australia’s largest provider of securities transaction processing

Citibank launches third party clearing service using GBST Shares™ to service international investment bank clients

GBST Shares™ is Australia’s top securities, trading, clearing and settlement platform

2006

GBST acquires Palion, Australia’s leading derivatives transaction processing technology

2007

GBST acquires InfoComp, a leading specialist provider of wealth management and client registry software in Australia and the UK

GBST Composer®, ComposerWeb and ComposerLife are launched

2008

GBST acquires award-winning company Coexis for its next-generation Syn∽® platform

GBST acquires Emu Design, a multidisciplinary design consultancy firm

2009

GBST Composer® wins its first major UK client

GBST ComposerWeb Adviser portal is launched

2010

Shares™ passes the milestone of processing more than 50% of all trades in the Australian market

The conversion from Shares™ to Syn∽® begins

GBST Composer® UK sales continue to grow

2011

Syn∽® 2.0 is released

FrontOffice is launched in Australia

First Syn∽® implementation begins in Australia
